Fairfield teen charged with capital murder in deadly Birmingham drive-by shooting

A Fairfield teen is charged with capital murder in a Birmingham drive-by shooting that killed a 31-year-old man.

Fernandeiz Emillio Rapley Jr., 18, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Wednesday morning, according to court and jail records.

He is charged in the June 1 slaying of Brandon Deandre Wilson.

South Precinct officers were dispatched at 1:30 a.m. that Saturday to the 500 block of 41st Street North in Tom Brown Village.

The city’s gunfire detection system – Shot Spotter – indicated shots fired in that location.  Officers were then updated that a person was down, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.

Wilson was found wounded in the intersection of 41st Street and 5th Court North.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service rushed him to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:43 a.m.

A motive has not been disclosed.

Rapley is being held without bond.
