An Athens woman was killed in a single-car crash in Limestone County on Saturday afternoon.

Deborah McMurtrey, 59, was driving about three miles north of Athens, on Sewell Road, said Vu Quang, spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Around 2:52 pm on Saturday, the 2014 Toyota Sequoia she was driving left the road, struck a utility pole and then struck a tree.

McMurtrey was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
