9 shot, 4 others injured when more than 600 rounds fired at Montgomery party
Nine people were shot, and four others injured, in a mass shooting early Sunday in Montgomery.
Police and fire medics were dispatched at 1:46 a.m. to the area of North Pass Road and Alabama River Parkway regarding reports of gunshot victims, according to Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed.
First responders found one adult female and one juvenile male, both with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Later, three adult males, two adult females, and two juvenile males with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds arrived at a local hospital on their own.
Additionally, Reed said, one adult female and two adult males with non-life-threatening injuries occurred from a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision and one adult female with minor injuries from broken glass showed up to an emergency room for treatment.
“This morning, more than 600 rounds were fired at a crowded party in the North Pass area,” said Reed said. “Nine were wounded, and at least four more were injured in the chaos that followed.”
Officers from the Montgomery Police Department, ATF, and FBI are currently interviewing witnesses and suspects.
“We are working tirelessly to identify those involved, and we urge anyone with information to come forward to help us put a stop to this sort of senseless, violent activity,” he said.
Authorities said more information will be released as it becomes available.
