Alabama lands commitment from Vigor OT Micah DeBose
Alabama football made a huge in-state recruiting move on Saturday, when Vigor offensive tackle Micah Debose committed to the Crimson Tide. DeBose had committed to Georgia in January of 2023 before decommiting in December.
DeBose committed while on an official visit to Tuscaloosa, with freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams streaming the decision on his Instagram account.
The four-star prospect had plenty of options to choose from, collecting offers from the likes of LSU, Ohio State and Florida before settling on Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide. He announced the news on social media.
“I feel like Alabama is going to be just fine,” DeBose told AL.com in January after Nick Saban’s retirement and DeBoer’s hiring. “(DeBoer) just talked about how I could buy into the program and become a good player at Alabama and how he could change and mold me into the player I want to be in the future in the NFL on and off the field.”
The 247Sports composite ratings rank Debose as the No. 8 offensive tackle in the 2025 class, and the No. 89 player overall. He’s listed as the No. 8 player in the state of Alabama.
The 6-foot-5, 300-pound DeBose became Alabama’s third tackle commitment in his class, joining fellow four-star Jackson Lloyd and Central-Phenix City’s Mal Waldrep. Four-star IOL Michael Carroll is also committed in the 2025 class.
“Flashes some jarring punch power and drive-blocking conviction that will finish targets to the ground,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks said in his assessment of DeBose. “Size and functional strength often overwhelm high school opponents. Hand placement is not a weakness, but hands can be stickier when engaged. Can improve overall body control, but displays encouraging kick-slide mobility. May ultimately fit the right tackle spot or a guard role, depending on athletic development and scheme.”
DeBose became Alabama’s 18th commitment in the 2025 class, DeBoer’s first full cycle as the Tide’s head coach. UA’s group is ranked No. 2 nationally on the 247 composite after the commit, with just Ohio State ahead.
