16 people displaced by apartment fire in Florence
A two-story apartment building in Florence is badly damaged and 16 people are displaced from their homes after a fire on Friday night, according to reports.
Florence Fire Rescue told TV station WHNT that heavy smoke and fire engulfed an upstairs bathroom and attic at the Heatherwood Apartments on Mars Hill Road around 11:45 p.m. The fire spread to four apartments in the building.
The building also sustained water damage. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
