The June furnace will crank up more over the weekend and into next week.

The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures to stay stuck in the mid- to upper 90s for much of the state starting on Saturday and possibly lasting into next week.

And it looks like only a few lucky ones will see any rain during that time.

Saturday’s high temperatures are expected to be in the mid-90s for most of the state (see the forecast at the top of this post).

Sunday could be a degree or two hotter in some areas:

Monday looks similarly toasty, with Fort Payne possibly coming in as the “coolest” spot with a high of 91.

Here’s the forecast for Monday:

Tuesday could be one of the hottest days in the seven-day outlook, with highs projected to get into the upper 90s to 100 degrees (sorry, Tuscaloosa):

The heat could back off a bit on Wednesday, with highs forecast to be “only” in the lower 90s for many:

And by next Thursday temperatures could get closer to average, with upper 80s and low 90s in the forecast:

Hotter-than-average temperatures could persist through the end of the month. NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a good probability of above-average temperatures into the first of July.
