Country music legend has emergency heart surgery, cancels shows

Country music singer and songwriter Mark Chesnutt is recovering from an emergency heart surgery.

According to a June 18 post on Chesnutt’s Instagram page, Chesnutt posted Tuesday on Instagram he experienced was hospitalized on Sunday for heart issue.

Doctors performed emergency quadruple bypass surgery on the singer, who is currently recovering. Because of the surgery, upcoming shows are on hold.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming shows,” Chesnutt posted on social media. “I send my love and gratitude to my family and friends, the band and fans for your understanding, prayers and support, and look forward to seeing you all again soon at a honky tonk near you.”

Chesnutt had shows in Louisiana (June 21), Texas (June 22) Canada (June 30) set.

“Dauphin’s Countryfest is extremely saddened to hear the news that we won’t have Mark Chesnutt grace our stage this summer,” the Dauphin’s Country Fest in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada, said in a statement on Instagram. “We continue to send healing vibes to Mark and his family during his recovery. Our team is working diligently to secure another act to add to our wonderful Sunday lineup and will make an announcement as soon as we can.”

In January, Chesnutt was cleared to return to perform after the country music legend cancelled two shows in November.
