McDonald’s launching $5 meal: Here’s what it includes

More details are coming out about McDonald’s upcoming $5 meal promotion.

Beginning June 25, McDonald’s US locations will sell a “$5 Meal Deal” for a limited time. It includes a McDouble cheeseburger or a McChicken sandwich, small french fries, 4-piece chicken nuggets and small soft drink, reports CNN.

“We heard our fans loud and clear — they’re looking for even more great value from us, and this summer that’s exactly what they’ll get,” Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, said in a press release.

The limited-time offer will last about a month.

“Affordable prices and creating memorable moments are what McDonald’s is all about,” said John Palmaccio, a McDonald’s owner and chair of the Operator’s National Advertising Fund, reports CNN. “As small business owners, it’s our responsibility to deliver great value to our local communities when they need it most.”

The new meal comes as prices for fast food are soaring and chains are feeling the pinch of consumer cutbacks. For example, a standard McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with cheese meal now costs $11.99, up from an average of $5.30 a decade ago, reports show.
