Saraland QB, Texas commit KJ Lacey selected as one of the Elite 11′s top performers
Saraland quarterback and 4-star Texas commit KJ Lacey was selected for the prestigious 2024 Elite 11 list after three days of work with 20 of the most highly touted rising senior quarterbacks in the nation this week in Los Angeles.
Alabama QB commit Keelon Russell was named the group’s MVP.
Lacey and Russell were joined on the final 11 by Trammell Jones Jr., Deuce Knight, Julian Lewis, Husan Longstreet, Luke Nickel, Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, Kevin Sperry, Tavien St. Clair and Malik Washington.
The Elite 11 is advertised as the nation’s premier quarterback camp.
In naming their own superlatives for the week, On3 listed Lacey as having the best footwork of the group. According to On3, the two-time, first-team Class 6A All-State selection “showed some of the quickest and most coordinated feet” of the week. On3 reported that Lacey was able to get good depth on his drops and moved well in outside-the-pocket scenarios.
The 20 quarterbacks this week participated in on-field drills, classroom instruction and off-field development.
Lacey, who has been committed to Texas for more than a year, left Los Angeles to take his official visit to Austin this weekend. He told AL.com earlier this week that Ole Miss and Auburn were also trying to convince him to take OVs to their campuses.
In 2023, Lacey completed 70 percent of his passes for 3,448 yards and 42 touchdowns in helping the Spartans back to the Class 6A title game. He was intercepted just 8 times. He also scored five rushing touchdowns.
