Spirit Airlines will begin daily service from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Oct. 10.

Spirit becomes the fifth carrier offering nonstop service at the airport, which currently offers flights to 21 airport destinations in 18 cities across the U.S. It is Spirit’s first foray into Alabama.
