Aww Shucks, the popular, Guinness World Record-winning Birmingham food truck specializing in fire-roasted corn, held the grand opening for its brick and mortar location on Jan. 20 . The restaurant, located in North Avondale, offers a primarily vegetarian menu including fire-roasted corn and creamy skillet corn-stuffed baked potatoes.

I HEART MAC & CHEESE

I Heart Mac and Cheese, the national restaurant chain specializing in customizable, made-to-order macaroni and cheese bowls, opened in Hoover last December. The owners, Bonita Riddle and Bobby Reuse, plan to open another location in Auburn, reports the Hoover Sun.

FALAFEL CAFE

Falafel Café, the popular eatery featuring falafel, pitas, and Jerusalem salad, opened a second location in Hoover (the restaurant has a location in Birmingham at 401 19th Street South, Ste. 100). The Hoover location of Falafel Café replaces Shark’s Fish and Chicken.

FARMERS MARKET AT BROCK’S GAP

If all goes as planned, Hoover will have a new farmers market this year. The Farmers Market at Brock’s Gap is slated to open on the property of Brock’s Gap Brewing Company (500 Mineral Trace Suite 100, Hoover, AL 35244) on March 4. The market will run on Saturdays (rain or shine) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market season will run from March 4 to Nov. 28. RED BIKE COFFEE

Irondale-based coffee roaster Red Bike Coffee Co. is set to open a brick and mortar shop in the Crestwood Shopping Center at 5512 Crestwood Blvd. The owners of Red Bike have made a number of renovations to the the former Crestwood Coffee space, which closed its doors last April.

ZOË’S KITCHEN

The Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant Zoë’s Kitchen is coming back to Mountain Brook’s Crestline Village under its original owners. John Cassimus, who expanded his parents’ original Zoë’s Kitchen restaurant into a chain with more than 300 locations, is teaming up with his family to bring back the brand founded in 1995.

BARBEQUE & BIRYANI

Barbeque & Biryani opened its doors in December. The restaurant offers dishes such as authentic Hyderabadi Saffron Dum Biryani and a variety of kabobs, reports the Birmingham Business Journal.

THIRD AVENUE FOOD TRUCK COURT

In 2021, attorney and retail developer Eric Guster purchased the property at 1104 3rd Ave. North in Birmingham. His vision for the real estate project is to transform the property into a food truck court. Food truck vendors interested in setting up at the Third Avenue Food Court can rent out a spot on a monthly basis to come and go from as they please. BLUE SUSHI SAKE GRILL

The first Alabama location of Blue Sushi Sake Grill is now open at The Summit. The restaurant, which boasts sustainably-sourced seafood and meats, is located next to AT&T.
