South Star music fest: Things to know before going

A brand-new music festival is coming to the South in September 2024, bringing Gwen Stefani, Blink-182, Ludacris, Goo-Goo Dolls, Shinedown and more to Huntsville, Ala., Sept. 28-29, 2024.

South Star music festival will feature 20 acts across two days at John Hunt Park. Tickets can be found on secondary markets including: Vivid Seats | StubHub | TicketCity | Event Tickets Center.

What to know before going

In addition to acts listed above, the festival will feature Jane’s Addiction, Jimmy Eat World, TLC, Juvenile, Gin Blossoms, Candlebox, Dexter and the Moonrocks, Winona Fighter, Beck, Sublime, Big Boi, Pete Yorn, Vanessa Carlton, Bully, and Billy Allen and the Pollies, according to an article by Matt Wake on AL.com.

Things to know before going:

  • Guests and their belongings are subject to search at venue entries.
  • All bags must be smaller than 12-inches-by-6-inches-by-12-inches. Non-clear bags allowed inside are small clutch purses and fanny packs that are 6-inch-by-9-inch or smaller. They can have no more than one pocket. Bags up to 12-inches-by-6-inches-by-12-inches must be clear.
  • Hydration packs are allowed and do not need to be clear. They must be emptied of all liquid and have no more than two pockets in addition to the water reservoir. (Read further instructions on these packs here.)
  • Have emergency contact info on you and your phone lock screen in case emergency personnel need it (Make sure to register your wristband where you will be asked to fill out an Emergency Contact form).
  • Stay hydrated by visiting the Hydration Stations for free, cool, filtered water and cooling stations placed all around the venue. The website says: “Remember to bring your own, empty water bottle to refill and help South Star be a green and sustainable event.”
  • Bring sunscreen, hats and sunglasses.
  • Bring hearing protection. The website says, “If you forget your ear plugs, stop by Guest Services to grab a pair.”
  • Bring a list of allergies and medications you take in case of a medical emergency.
  • Dress for the weather.

The South Star staff adds to be sure to be considerate. “This is a shared space and we want everyone to enjoy themselves. Keep the vibes chill and your hands to yourself.”
