Punter Alex Asparuhov commits to Alabama football’s class of 2025

Alabama football’s recruiting weekend got off to a hot start on Saturday, when the Crimson Tide landed a punter commitment. Alex Asparuhov, who Kohl’s Professional Camps rates as a five-star at the position, announced he’ll be joining UA in the class of 2025.

Asparuhov is also rated as a 4.5-star kicker by the organization. He’s currently the No. 3-ranked punter in the 2025 class.

“Asparuhov might might be the most fundamentally sound punter in the 2025 class,” Kohl’s wrote in its assessment of the new Tide pledge. “…He is way ahead of his age as a punter.”

Currently Alabama punter James Burnip will be out of eligibility after the 2024 season. UA currently only has one other punter listed on the roster, in junior Nick Serpa, who has not seen the field through two seasons.

According to Maxpreps, Asparuhov, who plays his high school football at San Joaquin Memorial in Fresno, Calif., made 15 of his 17 extra point attempts last season. He was also six-for-nine on field goals, with a long of 42 yards.

Asparuhov punted 32 times for 1,392 yards last season, good for an average of 43.5 yards. He hit 14 punts inside the 20-yard line.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Asparuhov also handled kickoff duties as a junior. He chose Alabama over offers from Florida and Oklahoma.

He became the Crimson Tide’s 15th commitment in the class of 2025.
