The $5 toll to use the Foley Beach Express Bridge was removed over Memorial Day weekend. Now it’s time to say farewell to the empty toll booths.

The Alabama Department of Transportation, in an announcement this week, said the demolition of the Beach Express toll plaza will commence Sunday night, and will unfold in several stages with temporary traffic shifts. McInnis Construction of Summerdale is scheduled to begin removing the toll booths sometime after 9 p.m. on Sunday.
