Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a hit-and-run in east Birmingham.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Dwight Lemar McCall. He was 62 and lived in Birmingham.

East Precinct officers and Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched at 4:49 a.m. Thursday to a report of a person down in the 8300 block of First Avenue North.

McCall was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:06 a.m.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said the victim was hit by a vehicle that left the scene. It was not immediately clear when he had been struck.

The investigation is ongoing by Birmingham police.
