Kansas City Chiefs present Super Bowl rings

The Kansas City Chiefs concluded their 2024 offseason program in a way that only they could on Thursday night – by presenting the championship rings for their victory in Super Bowl LVIII.

Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime on Feb. 11 to win the championship for the NFL’s 2023 season.

The Chiefs presented championship rings that featured 529 diamonds and 38 rubies and included a diagram of Tom and Jerry, the play that produced quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ 3-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Mecole Hardman with three seconds remaining in overtime.

Former Murphy High School standout Neil Farrell Jr. made one tackle and broke up a pass for Kansas City in Super Bowl LVIII, and he posted video from the ring presentation on his Instagram account on Thursday night.

So did defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs (Alabama) and quarterback Chris Oladokun (Samford), who were on the Chiefs’ practice squad last season and remain with the team.

Wide receivers Justyn Ross (Central-Phenix City) and Kadarius Toney (Blount) were designated as game-day inactives by Kansas City for Super Bowl LVIII, and tight end Gerrit Prince (UAB) and wide receiver Montrell Washington (Samford) were on the practice squad with the Chiefs last season.

All four players remain with the team this year.

Running back La’Mical Perine (Theodore) was designated as a game-day inactive for Super Bowl LVIII by Kansas City, and offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho (Edgewood Academy, Auburn) was on the Chiefs’ injured reserve last season, but neither player is on the team now.

Kansas City became the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots were the NFL champions for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. No team has won three consecutive Super Bowls.
