Alabama could get near 100 degrees this week

An even-for-June stretch of hot temperatures is in the forecast for Alabama.

Temperatures are expected to climb over the next few days and could be near 100 degrees in parts of the state by the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

According to weather service forecasts the hottest day could end up being Saturday, when many locations in south Alabama will be flirting with 100 degrees.

Highs today (Wednesday) will top out in the 80s and 90s statewide. Some of the “cooler” spots in north Alabama will be in the low 80s, with low to mid-90s possible for south Alabama:

Temperatures will go up a degree or two on Thursday, with nearly all the state ending up in the 90s:

Then comes Saturday, which could be the hottest of the week. Most of the state is expected to have temperatures peak well into the 90s, and a lot of spots in south Alabama are expected to have highs near 100 degrees (Saturday’s forecast is at the top of this post).

Sunday is expected to be hot, but not quite as hot as Saturday. Here is the forecast for Sunday:

And temperatures will be degree or two lower again for many in Alabama on Monday, especially south Alabama, which could be picking up some rain from tropical activity in the Gulf of Mexico:
