Where does Alabama football’s 2025 recruiting class rank so far?

As the offseason continues ahead of the 2024 season, Alabama and the rest of college football can begin to look ahead to the recruiting class of 2025. It’s a big class for the Crimson Tide, Kalen DeBoer’s first full cycle as head coach.

Alabama has picked up a few commitments in recent days, with four-star quarterback Keelon Russell flipping from SMU, and four-star cornerback Chuck McDonald also announcing his intentions to join the Crimson Tide. Offensive linemen Michael Carroll and Mal Waldrep were the latest to join the class, committing on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

As the recruiting cycle continues, here’s how UA is stacking up in the rankings from major recruiting services, as of Tuesday night.

Where does the class stand?

Alabama currently has 14 commitments in the class of 2025. That’s a fair bit behind schools like Notre Dame, which has 21 according to ESPN, or Rutgers and Syracuse, which sit at 19 each.

The Crimson Tide’s group includes one five-star prospect so far, at least according to the 247Sports composite. That’s Darrell “Duke” Johnson, the No. 3 linebacker in the class, who plans to join UA from Dodge County in Georgia.

Alabama’s class also includes 10 four-star prospects so far.

247Sports composite rankings– 3rd

The 247Sports rankings have Alabama the highest of the three major services. The composite, which takes into account ratings from other companies, ranked Alabama third, as of Monday.

Carroll’s commitment helped boost that position. Before he announced his plan to join the Crimson Tide, UA’s class was ranked fifth for 2025.

Just Ohio State and Notre Dame rank ahead of the Crimson Tide in the 247 composite. The Buckeyes lead all schools, with a class that currently includes three five-star prospects.

On3 industry rankings– 6th

The Crimson Tide, which had been ranked seventh on the On3 industry list, jumped up two spots with Carroll’s commitment, then slipped a position when Georgia made a Tuesday jump.

On3 doesn’t classify Johnson as a five-star, which likely hurts Alabama’s spot in the rankings. The service lists UA as having 11 four-star prospects in the class.

Notre Dame fell behind Alabama in the On3 rankings, coming in sixth. Ohio State still sits atop the list, followed by LSU, Southern Cal and Clemson.

Rivals team rankings– 3rd

Alabama took a huge jump up the Rivals rankings when Carroll announced his commitment. Before the offensive lineman gave his verbal, UA had been ninth.

With the Monday news, DeBoer’s team jumped up to fourth in the rankings, then picked up another spot on Tuesday when Waldrep committed. The Rivals list seems to prioritize quantity of commitments at this point, with Notre Dame ranking first on the list, despite its 21 commits coming in at an average of 3.81 stars, well below several other teams.

Ohio State ranks second in the Rivals rankings, with Southern Cal coming in one spot behind Alabama in fourth.
