An ATV crash in Chilton County left a Jemison 19-year-old dead.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Shawn A. Smith.

The wreck happened at 4:17 p.m. Monday on Chilton County 135 near Chilton County 1038, about two miles north of Jemison.

Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett said Smith was driving a 2019 Honda Pioneer ATV that left the road, hit an embankment, and overturned.

Smith was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene.

A 16-year-old passenger was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
