Tornado total from Wednesday storms stands at 3

The severe storms that rolled across north and central Alabama on Wednesday night ended up producing three tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

All three were given preliminary ratings of EF-1. And there were no injuries reported.

A complex of storms developed in Mississippi and pushed eastward into western Alabama starting on Wednesday evening. In addition to the tornadoes, the storms also caused a lot of wind damage on the western side of the state.

Two tornadoes formed in the line in Marion and Fayette counties in central Alabama, and a third tornado was confirmed in north Alabama’s Franklin County.

Here is a look at the three tornadoes from June 5:

* Bexar tornado (started in Mississippi and crossed into Marion County): EF-1, top winds 95 mph. Path length 3.38 miles; path length 300 yards. The tornado touched down at 6:43 p.m. June 5 and was on the ground for 5 minutes.

* Winfield tornado (Marion and Fayette counties): EF-1, top winds 95 mph. Path length 7.23 miles; path width 325 yards. The tornado touched down at 6:52 p.m. on June 5 and was on the ground for 9 minutes.

* Overton Farm tornado (Franklin County): EF-1, top winds 110 mph. Path length 12.86 miles; path width 225 yards. The tornado touched down at 7:06 p.m. June 5 and was on the ground for 19 minutes.
