ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ predictions, including Alabama-Texas A&M: ‘This one is personal’

Lee Corso was missing for a second straight week, but ESPN’s “GameDay” crew – armed with celebrity picker Rob Riggle – dished out their picks from Lawrence, Kansas on Saturday.

The guys give Texas A&M and coach Jimbo Fisher little chance against Nick Saban and No. 1 Alabama on Saturday night.

“(Alabama OC) Bill O’Brian knows how to use his players’ talent to the maximum, even without (quarterback) Bryce Young, they will be OK,” Desmond Howard said. “I don’t think Alabama covers, but I think Alabama will win today.

Pat McAfee said it is personal for Alabama coach Nick Saban.

“Give me Alabama to cover and to win,” he said. “I like (quarterback Jalen) Milroe a lot. I also like the thought that Nick Saban for the first time in a long time maybe has a personal vendetta. Normally, when you see people come off the field, I think he’s going to keep them on the field. He’s going to say, ‘Hey Jimbo, want to talk about skeletons in the closet? We’re about to have one, and it’s going to be your entire team.’ I like Bama a lot today.”

Riggle, a Kansas alum, agreed with McAfee.

“This is a like a soap opera,” Riggle said. “There’s so much drama with this game. Saban is going to bring everything he’s got. He’s coming sideways. He’s coming feet first like a King Fu master. I’m taking Alabama.

Herbstreit, once again, points out it is more about the players than it is the coaches.

“With all the talk of these two coaches don’t forget A&M beat Alabama last year,” he said. “These players were on the field at Kyle Field a year ago. This one is personal, not because of the coaches because A&M beat these players. It is going to get ugly. We can have fun talking about Jimbo and Nick, I don’t care who the quarterback is, Alabama dominates today.”
