Montgomery man charged with murder in deadly Coosa County shooting
A Montgomery man is behind bars, charged in the shooting death of another man earlier this month in Coosa County.
Tramaine Dasean Grandison, 27, is charged with murder in the May 1 killing of 27-year-old David Tyrell Benson.
Coosa County deputies responded that Wednesday to a 911 call reporting shots had been fired on County Road 93 in Kellyton. They arrived to find Benson wounded in the road.
He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
On Thursday, Sheriff Michael Howell, Chief Deputy Scott Hammond, Sgt. Travis Ward, and investigators Troy Middlebrooks and Don Hodge, assisted by the State Bureau of Investigation, carried out a search warrant at Grandison’s home in Montgomery.
Authorities said they found evidence related to Benson’s slaying.
Benson is also charged with first-degree theft of property.
He is being held without bond in the Coosa County Jail.
