Tennessee man crushed to death by horse in north Alabama

A man was apparently crushed to death in Tuscumbia after a horse he was riding fell on top of him Wednesday.

Colbert County Coroner Justin Gasque said the incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. near Seven Springs Lodge and Rattlesnake Saloon, 1292 Mt. Mills Road.

Dwain Parks, 76, of Somerville, Tenn., was riding a horse in the area when it fell on him.

Gasque said it is unclear what happened to make the horse fall.

“That hasn’t been determined yet,” he said.
