Girl shot as groups engaged in gun battle in Talladega County
A girl was shot as multiple people engaged in a gun battle Tuesday night in Talladega County, authorities said Wednesday.
Childersburg police officers responded to Ferry Road at Highway 280 around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on multiple reports of shots fired in the area, the department said.
Officers at the scene determined multiple people were in the area firing off shots at one another.
One person, only identified as a juvenile female, was struck by gunfire and taken to Coosa Valley Medical Center via private vehicle.
Her injuries were non-life-threatening, police said.
The department did not say whether the girl was caught in the crossfire or was with one of the groups.
Several vehicles and businesses were also struck by gunfire.
