Commercial developers in the Birmingham metro have been issued 320 permits totaling nearly $690 million so far this year, according to permits pulled by Southern Exposure Information.

The busiest commercial developer so far is Stone Building LLC with 12 permits totaling over $22.5 million. The company was also awarded a $46 million contract this month to construct the highly anticipated 9,000-seat Star Amphitheater in downtown Birmingham, according to a recent article from AL.com’s Roy Johnson.
