Gospel legends will perform one night in Birmingham

Gospel artist Kirk Franklin announced this week The Reunion Tour will make a stop in Birmingham and feature fellow legends like Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, The Clark Sisters, and Kierra Sheard-Kelly.

The show will mark the first time that all of the gospel icons have performed together in the Magic City at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena.

The Live Nation tour kicks off late summer starting Sept. 6 through the fall ending Nov. 3.

Presale for the concert is happening now with regular ticket sales beginning on Wednesday, May 22 at 10 a.m. CT.

Other nearby stops on the tour will include Atlanta, Memphis, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Raleigh, and Charlotte.

Franklin is a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, rapper and choir director known for leading gospel and Christian R&B groups like The Family. God’s Property, and One Nation Crew. The Fort Worth, Texas, native’s albums include 1993′s “Kirk Franklin and the Family,” 1995′s “Kirk Franklin & the Family Christmas” and 1996′s “Whatcha Lookin’ 4.” Solo albums include “The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin,” “Hero,” “The Fight of My Life,” “Hello Fear” and “Losing My Religion.”

Franklin has also appeared in the film “Joyful Noise,” as well as several television series including “Sister, Sister,” “The Proud Family,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Steve Harvey,” “Kingdom Business” and “Tamron Hall.”
