2 men among a dozen shot in Montgomery in a single weekend have died

Two men injured in Montgomery shootings more than a week ago have now died.

The victims were among at least a dozen people wounded in Montgomery gunfire between Friday, May 10, and Monday, May 13.

Police on Tuesday identified the slain men as Jeffrey Williams, 34, and Demtrius Porter, 39.

Maj. Saba Coleman said officers and medics responded at 1:14 a.m. Sunday, May 12, to the 1100 block of Oak Street on a report of a person shot. Williams was taken to the hospital where he died on Saturday, May 18.

Less than two hours later, first responders were dispatched at 2:54 a.m. to the 500 block of East Patton Avenue on another report of a shooting.

Porter was found wounded and taken to the hospital, where was pronounced dead on Monday, May 20.

Also that Sunday, 64-year-old Gloria Crews was shot to death while hosting a Mother’s Day gathering at her south Montgomery home. There is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in that case.

Coleman confirmed there were multiple separate shootings that weekend including two on Friday and three on Saturday, one of which was self-inflicted.

On the Sunday that Crews, Porter, and Williams were killed, police also responded to a hospital after learning that six people had been shot – a man, a juvenile boy, and four women.

One of the women sustained life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that shooting happened in the 2400 block of Eastern Boulevard.

Another shooting happened on Monday, May13.

No arrests have been announced in any of the slayings.
