Report: Las Vegas set to host 2027 CFP championship game

Las Vegas will host the January 2027 College Football Playoff national championship game, according to a report Monday by Brett McMurphy of Action Network.

No date has been set for the game, which would take place at Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders and site of the most recent Super Bowl. It will be the first time hosting the CFP title game for Las Vegas, making it the 11th different city to do so.

Las Vegas was originally scheduled to host the January 2025 CFP championship game, but was forced to cancel due to a conflict with a major electronics convention scheduled to be in town the same week. Atlanta instead will host this season’s title game at Mercedes Benz Stadium on Jan. 20, with semifinals set for the Orange Bowl (Miami Gardens, Fla.) on Jan. 9 and the Cotton Bowl (Arlington, Texas) on Jan. 10.

The January 2026 CFP championship game is set for Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. Other likely future destinations according to McMurphy’s report are New Orleans (January 2028), Dallas (January 2029) and Miami again (January 2030).

The College Football Playoff begins its 12-team era this season. It’s possible — if not likely — the playoff could expand further to 14 beginning with the 2026 season.
