A man found shot to death Tuesday in the front yard of a home in East Lake has been identified.
Carlos Leton Searight, 33, of Birmingham was found the 6800 block of 1st Avenue South.
East Precinct officers responded to the 6800 block of 1st Avenue South on multiple calls of a person shot, said Sgt. LaQuitta Wade.
Officers found Searight lying in the front yard unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Wade said.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced him dead.
Nine shell casings were found at the scene, Wade said, but it was not immediately clear how many bullets struck the victim.
The man’s age was not immediately known, but Wade described the victim as a “young adult male.”
The preliminary investigation revealed motorists passing by spotted the unresponsive victim and called 911.
