Suspect in custody, charged in Mobile shooting that left man dead, juvenile wounded
A Mobile man is in custody, charged with murder and assault in a late April shooting that left one man dead and a juvenile seriously wounded.
Police said 24-year-old Grant Lavarus Myles was taken into custody early Thursday morning. The Mobile Metro Jail docket shows Myles is being held without bond pending a Friday court hearing.
Mobile police responded to a report of a shooting on Prairie Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. on April 23.
Arriving at the scene, officers found the adult male dead from an apparent gunshot wound in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Jaylin Jaron Craig of Semmes.
Searching the area, police also located the male juvenile victim, also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside a second vehicle. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital with what police described as life-threatening injuries, but as of Thursday morning police said he was expected to recover.
