People near Hampton Cove on Huntsville’s well-developed southeast side are worried about their kids crossing Monte Sano Mountain to get to school and back home. They want at least one of several planned new Huntsville public schools to be on their side of the mountain.

I don’t know if their case is strong, but I do know they are advocating for what they think their children need, and that’s what parents do.

Meanwhile, Madison County’s west side includes some of Huntsville, too, about as far as you can get from Hampton Cove and stay in the county. The public high school Columbia in Cummings Research Park and its feeder schools handle Huntsville kids there.
