Birmingham man charged in sexual assaults of 4 different women on city’s west side
A 36-year-old Birmingham man is behind bars, accused in the sexual assaults of four different women.
Christian Jerel Thomas is charged with first-degree kidnapping, four counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree rape and six counts of first-degree sodomy.
The Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team arrested Thomas April 30, police announced Wednesday. He is being held without bond in Jefferson County Jail.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the investigation began in February when a woman reported to police that she was robbed and sexually assaulted in west Birmingham.
Then, in April, detectives investigated three separate cases involving three women who were sexually assaulted and/or robbed, also in west Birmingham.
The Birmingham Police Department and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office believe there may be other victims.
