Fans can also get NHL playoff gear to support their teams throughout this postseason, like Will Ferrell has already done.
The first seeded Stars narrowly escaped a first round upset by the Vegas Golden Knights, as they overcame a 2-0 series deficit to win in seven games. After conceding a total of seven goals in the first two games of the series, the Stars tightened up their defense and never allowed the Golden Knights to score more than two goals in a game. Their improved defensive play was the key to winning that series, as their offensive success continued to fluctuate each game.
Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson are the two leading goal scorers for the Stars, as they have combined to score seven times this postseason. Since the team has scored 16 goals in the NHL playoffs thus far, Johnston and Robertson are responsible for nearly half of them. So, the Stars will need both players to keep finding the back of the net in tonight’s game.
The Colorado Avalanche entered as the third seed in the NHL playoffs this year, and they upset the second seeded Winnipeg Jets in five games during their first round series. The Avalanche were able to dominate that series because of their electrifying offense. They are averaging more than five goals per game, which leads all playoff teams this season. Even though the Jets averaged a decent three goals per game, they were unable to keep up with the Avalanche.
After losing game 1 by a scoreline of 7-6, the Avalanche never allowed the Jets to score more than three goals. Meanwhile, the Avalanche scored at least five goals in all five games. The two leading scorers for the Avalanche are Valeri Nichushkin and Artturi Lehkonen, as they have combined for 12 goals. The team also has six other players that have scored two goals this postseason. So, the Avalanche have numerous players that are capable of scoring and willing to shoot the puck.
