Monte Sano and the state park on its top and sides are treasured by Huntsville area residents. And people across the area who come to the park to hike, bicycle, picnic and camp want the forest protected and cared for.

A recent slow drive on Bankhead Parkway showed tree limbs and trunks occasionally sticking up from ditches beside the road. Some were outside the park and some appeared inside it.
