Former Auburn defensive lineman returning to Titans
After making it back to an NFL active roster last season, Marlon Davidson will be back with the Tennessee Titans in 2024. The defensive tackle has agreed to terms with the NFL team, the Titans announced on Monday.
The former Auburn standout had been an unrestricted free agent since March 13.
Davidson did not play in an NFL regular-season game in 2022.
In 2023, Davidson played in the Titans’ final five games – the first two as a practice-squad elevation before three starts as a member of the 53-play roster. He recorded 10 tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss while playing 163 defensive snaps.
Alabama’s Class 5A Lineman of the Year in 2015 for Greenville High School, Davidson was an All-SEC selection at Auburn before joining the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
In his first two seasons with the Falcons, Davidson played in 19 games, started one and missed 15 as injuries and COVID-19 kept him off the field. He totaled 29 tackles, with one sack, one tackle for loss and one interception returned for a touchdown.
In 2022, Davidson began the season on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in training camp before Atlanta released him on Oct. 25, 2022.
Davidson returned in 2023 as he went through the offseason program, training camp and preseason with San Francisco before starting the season on the 49ers’ practice squad. San Francisco released Davidson on Oct. 4, and the Titans signed him for their practice squad on Oct. 25 — exactly one year after his release by Atlanta.
Terms of Davidson’s new contract were not announced.
