An elderly man was killed in a traffic crash in Adamsville.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Roosevelt Smith. He was 89 and lived in Forestdale.

The wreck happened at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday on Pratt Highway at Veterans Memorial Drive.

Smith was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:19 a.m.

Smith was the driver and one of two occupants in the vehicle. Additional details have not yet been released.

The Adamsville Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck, with the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
