A man died Wednesday after he was found lying on a Coosa County road with gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Tyrell Benson, 27, of Cottage Grove, died at a local hospital after he was found shot Wednesday on Coosa County Road 93 by sheriff’s deputies, according to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Dispatchers received a 911 call of shots fired, prompting a sergeant and a deputy with the sheriff’s office to respond to County Road 93.

That’s where Benson was found lying on the road suffering from gunshot wounds.
