Argument between couple at east Birmingham home leaves husband dead, wife detained for questioning
A domestic dispute inside an east Birmingham home left one person dead and another detained for questioning.
Birmingham’s East Precinct officers were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday to a reported domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of Cedargate Circle. That is near the Spring Lake area.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said while officers were en route, they received another call reporting someone had been shot.
Police entered the home and found the victim unresponsive on the floor. The victim was pronounced dead by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.
Wade said the couple who lived at the home got into a verbal argument which led to the fatal shots being fired.

Authorities said the husband was killed. The wife remained on the scene and is undergoing questioning by detectives.
Once the investigation is complete, Wade said, the case will be presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office to determine if criminal charges are warrant.
The victim is Birmingham’s 45th homicide this year. Of those, four have been ruled justifiable and therefore aren’t deemed criminal.
