An investigation is underway after human remains were discovered in Talladega County.

Lincoln police officers responded at 9:55 a.m. Monday to a report of the possible human remains in a creek near Blue Eye Springs Road, said Investigator Demarco Willis.

Willis said it appears the remains had been there an extended period of time. They were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to try to determine an identity and cause of death.

No additional information is being released at this time.
