Johnny Manziel reacts to Reggie Bush getting Heisman Trophy back
Reggie Bush is getting his Heisman Trophy back, and Johnny Manziel is thrilled.
The former Texas A&M quarterback posted on social media not long after news broke about Bush getting his hardware back.
“Couldn’t be happier for my guy Reggie Bush,” Manziel posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
In March, Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, took to social media to make it known he will boycott the Heisman Trophy ceremony until the NCAA returns Bush’s Heisman Trophy, which was stripped from him following NCAA sanctions.
“After careful thought and consideration I will be humbly removing myself from the Heisman trophy ceremony until @ReggieBush gets his trophy back,” Manziel posted in March. “Doesn’t sit right with my morals and values that he can’t be on that stage with us every year. Reggie IS the Heisman trophy. Do the RIGHT thing @NCAA the ball is in your court.”
ESPN is reporting Bush, the former USC running back, will have his 2005 Heisman Trophy returned. According to the report, the Heisman Trust will announce Wednesday the formal “reinstatement” of the trophy.
