Hoover 6-foot-9 center DeWayne Brown commits to SEC power
Junior big man DeWayne Brown, who has led Hoover to back-to-back Class 7A state basketball titles, committed to Tennessee on Saturday.
The 6-foot-9 forward/center had narrowed his list to the Vols or Mississippi State earlier this month.

Brown was named Class 7A Player of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association earlier this week.
He averaged 15.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2 assists per game for the Bucs this season and also had 87 blocked shots.
He also was a member of the ASWA Super All-State team, the five best players in Alabama regardless of position or classification.
Brown is the No. 1 junior in the state, according to the 247 composite rankings. His teammate, guard Salim London, No. 2 followed by Huntsville’s Simon Walker and Huffman’s Peyton Wiggins.
