Prichard City Councilman Derrick Griffin indicted on 4 additional insurance fraud counts

Prichard City Councilman Derrick Griffin has been indicted by a Mobile County grand jury on four additional counts of insurance fraud after being initially indicted on two counts late last year.

Griffin now faces six counts of insurance fraud for allegedly misrepresenting his ownership of multiple vehicles to several insurance companies, the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

Griffin was indicted by a Mobile County grand jury in December after prosecutors presented the panel with evidence that he “made fraudulent representations on two different occasions in connection with an insurance policy,” Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said at the time.

He was arrested on the charges in January.

On Thursday, a grand jury indicted him on four more insurance fraud counts.

A new arraignment date for Griffin has not yet been set.
