Final ASWA prep baseball rankings: Major shakeups as state playoffs begin

The final Alabama Sports Writers Association high school baseball rankings for the 2024 season included some major shakeups.

Three new No. 1 teams will enter the playoffs, which open today or Friday for Class 1A-6A teams. Class 7A teams start their postseason next week.

Bob Jones took over the No. 1 spot in Class 7A after previous No. 1 Central-Phenix City lost two of three games to rival Auburn. Alexandria moved to the top spot in Class 5A, while Vincent is the new No. 1 in Class 2A.

Hartselle (6A), Bibb County (4A), Piedmont (3A), Appalachian (1A) and Glenwood (AISA) remained atop their respective classes.

The ASWA does not rank teams in the postseason.
