Southern Living says the most romantic coastal escape in Alabama is a destination that offers a “best of both worlds” mix of luxury and leisure.

If that screams “Fairhope” to you, you’ll feel right at home with “The Seven Most Romantic Coastal Escapes For Couples,” a new feature at www.southernliving.com. It puts Fairhope in good company: Other listed destinations include Key Largo, Fla.; Cumberland Island, Ga.; and Beaufort, N.C.

“Fairhope’s waterfront sunsets, ancient oak trees draped in live moss, and charming town square will put you two in a vacation state of mind as soon as you arrive,” says the blurb. It goes on to suggest that visitors browse downtown shops, enjoy beignets at Panini Pete’s and “check in at the nearby Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa for pampering, pool time, and all the amenities you could ask for.”

Inclusion in the list arguably is a little bit of a come-up for Fairhope, as it (and the whole rest of Alabama) was left out of a 2023 Southern Living roundup of “24 Small Towns In The South For A Romantic Getaway.” What’s changed since then? Well, there was that Hulu series “Love in Fairhope” that aired last fall …
