Montgomery murder suspect reportedly captured by feds at Auburn hotel
A murder suspect in a fatal 2022 shooting in Montgomery was captured by federal agents Tuesday at an Auburn hotel on a warrant.
Jimothy Ford, 40, of Prattville, was found Tuesday by agents with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Task Force at an extended stay hotel on Commerce Drive, WRBL reported.
Ford was charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Christopher Thomas on Aug. 6, 2022 and was out on $1.5 million bond at the time of his arrest.
The task force could not be reached to confirm the report, but WRBL reported that Ford failed to appear in Autauga County court.
Montgomery County court records showed prosecutors there filed a motion April 3 to revoke Ford’s bond in the murder case because Ford was arrested March 23 by an Autauga County sheriff’s deputy on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, felony attempting to elude and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Montgomery County District Court Judge Brooke Reid granted the motion Monday and issued a warrant for Ford’s arrest.
In her order, Reid said a bond revocation hearing would be held for Ford “once the defendant is in custody.”
Thomas was found shot in the 2600 block of Zelda Road. Officers and paramedics dispatched to the location found Thomas had been shot and pronounced him dead on the scene.
