Man shot in face outside gas station on busy east Birmingham road

Multiple shots rang out at an east Birmingham gas station Monday afternoon, leaving one man seriously injured.

The shooting happened about 2:30 p.m. outside Chevron on Oporto-Madrid Boulevard South, between First and Second avenues.

Officer responded to the area after Shot Spotter registered 10 rounds fired in the area.

The victim showed up in a private vehicle a short time later at Birmingham Fire and Rescue Station  12 on First Avenue North.

Police radio communications indicated the victim was shot in the face. Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said he was taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening wounds.

`Police marked multiple shell casings in the parking lot of the Chevron. It appears the shooting was captured on store surveillance video.

No arrests have been announced.
