A 51-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he walked along Grelot Road in west Mobile Friday night.

Mobile police said officers responded to the 6600 block of Grelot Road just before 9 p.m. Friday after a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Arriving at the scene, the found the victim, identified as Curtis Michael Flakes Jr., dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicated Flakes was walking in the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling west on Grelot.

Police said the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
