Donald Trump leads Joe Biden, latest poll shows: Where does Trump poll the highest?

A new national poll shows former president Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden by a slim margin.

Siena College and the New York Times survey of registered voters shows Trump ahead of Biden 46% to 45%. If independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is included, Trump’s lead inched up 2 percentage points to 42%, compared to 40% for Biden, a Democrat, and 2% for Kennedy.

Trump polled highest among people in the South and Midwest, the choice of 52% and 50%, respectively. The numbers were reversed in the northeast and west, which showed 54% and 55%, respectively, backing Biden.

The poll also showed that many respondents felt the country was going in the wrong direction. According to the poll, 64% of the registered voters felt the country was going in the wrong direction compared to 25% who feel it was going in the right direction and 11% didn’t know or refused to answer.

Sixty-eight percent of registered voters in the West felt the country was headed in the wrong direction, compared to 67% in the South, 63% in Midwest and 57% in the Northeast.

The poll was conducted April 7-11 with 1,059 registered voters by telephone and live interviews. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
