2nd teen dies following Friday night shooting during Tuscaloosa robbery

A second teen has died following a shooting Friday night in Tuscaloosa.

Tuscaloosa police responded about 11 p.m. to a report of a shooting and a car crash in the 2200 block of Reece Boulevard. They arrived to find a vehicle had crashed into a house.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said one of the victims inside the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. The second was taken to DCH Regional Medical where he has since died, Kennedy announced Sunday.

Investigators determined that the shooting and subsequent crash resulted from a robbery attempt. The young driver was shot, which caused the crash.

Another teen has been charged with felony murder and first-degree robbery. He is now charged with a second count of felony murder.

The names of the victims and the suspect are not being released because of their ages.

The young victims are the second and third teens killed in Tuscaloosa since Wednesday.
