Mobile man guilty of manslaughter in death of 24-year-old woman

A 39-year-old Mobile man is headed to prison after a Mobile County jury found him guilty of reckless manslaughter in the death of a 24-year-old woman in November 2020.

According to prosecutors, Mynkha Graham-Franklin was only a mile from reaching her home when Brennan Terrell Washam, driving at 30 mph over the legal speed limit, ran a red light and slammed into Graham-Franklin’s vehicle.

“Mr. Washam acted completely reckless with no regard for human life that night,” said Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood. “He selfishly took the life of an innocent woman who had so much life left to live.”

Washam was also charged with two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle, but court documents are unclear as to whether those charges were dropped or are still pending.

Sentencing for Washam is set for May 16. He faces a minimum jail sentence of two years, with a maximum of 20.
